The Big Picture:

  • Howden Vietnam has an immediate need for a proactive, forward thinking Sales & Service Engineer for our compressor system.
  • This is an exciting business development role for the entire Howden product portfolio based in Vietnam.
  • This roles main purpose is to provide technical support, field service and further develop the market, by increasing market share and positioning Howden as a market leader in Power, Petrochemical Oil & Gas (PCOG), Refrigeration, F&B, Cement, Steel, and Waste Water for Aftermarket & Retrofit business development in Vietnam.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for service active , which include but not limit to Troubleshooting, Maintenance, Retrofit solution, Technical support for Howden compressor and other Howden’s product
  • Ensure prompt and accurate responses to customer for parts and technical enquiries
  • Turn customer’s technical issue to business opportunity
  • Proactively hunting for project leads, develop the leads and execute the New Build, Aftermarket (Retrofit, Parts and Services) sales process, from enquiry through to customer order.
  • Developing sound relationships with customers

What needs to be done?

Perform the service for all of Howden’s Product

  • Implement Site Service and troubleshooting for Howden compressor and other Rotation Equipment, such as Fan, Heater, Turbine
  • Installation and Commissioning for new build or retrofit project
  • Provide the retrofit solution for old equipment
  • Provide maintenance activity and schedule for existing Installed Based
  • Responses to customer spare parts and technical enquiries.
  • Achieve the annual parts bookings, sales and margin budget by proactively administering the sales process, from enquiry through to customer order, including:
    • Evaluation of customer technical and commercial requirements to ensure correct supply of equipment
    • Ensure spare parts and service quotations are processed within clients required timescales
    • Obtain / request necessary drawings, if required in the quotation process
    • Keep customer contact list in CRM up-to-date and maintain the data as accurately as possible
    • Liaise with customers to negotiate initial contract terms and conditions
    • Make sure customer order reflects the agreed terms in Howden’s quote
  • Act as Howden’s ambassador to gain access to the key decision makers to develop, drive and deliver the Howden Sales Strategy, and maintain our strong position with key customers, for targeted industries in Vietnam.
  • Monitor competitor activity in New Build, AFM and Retrofit projects in targeted industries in Vietnam.
  • Manage our network of agents, partners within Vietnam.
  • Adhere to all Howden group policies, procedures and business ethics codes.
  • Manage and communicate with all stakeholders on the annual planning of equipment maintenance preparation and ensure it’s conducted in line with procedures and correct work methods.
  • Debriefing of all maintenance activities in post-mortem meetings with all stakeholders after each maintenance activity is complete.
  • Implement all recommendations and follow-up actions in logbooks and make sure they are executed and closed.
  • Ensuring administrative diligence, by accurately and efficiently preparing the required documents and seek to continuously improve existing office procedures.

What do you need to bring?

  • Project hunting mentality. Must have a business mindset and know how to spot opportunities/leads to grow the New Build, AFM and Retrofit businesses
  • Ability to interpret technical problems of customers into potential business solution/service for Howden to grow business and market share
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, set priorities, and work both independently and in a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure while keeping a positive and results driven attitude.
  • Understanding customers’ need, customer budget approval process, customers’ buying process, bidding and tenders, etc.
  • Dealing with demanding customers.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance effectiveness, streamline activities and procedures, overcome obstacles and to utilise resources more effectively.

Desirable skills, knowledge & behaviours

  • Have strong technical background of products, process, rotatory equipment (fans, air preheaters, gas heaters, compressors, steam turbines, blowers, etc.) and various process application.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in field service for rotatory equipment, prefer compressor service experience.
  • Experience with Fan performance field test is plus
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), you must be able to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization with tact and diplomacy, and with a high level of cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to read drawings, PI&D and OEM manuals.
  • Demonstrated experience with CRM.
  • Parts and equipment interpretation experience.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • High level of PC literacy, especially MS Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer.
  • This role will involve some travel, which we estimate to be up to 25% of your time travelling to sites, client and supplier meetings.
